Built by engineers. Run by people who get it.

Teros has been connecting Bay Area startups with senior engineering talent across Latin America since 2013. We’ve spent years building engineering teams ourselves, so we understand what it takes to find the right people.

Our story

Over A decade of building the right teams

Since 2013, the Teros team has been a trusted partner to startups in the Bay Area, enabling growth from pre-founding stages to late-stage success. Our tailored approach to building engineering teams has supported advancements across software engineering, machine learning, computer vision, cloud-native solutions, and infrastructure.

Teros is named after the iconic Uruguayan bird, and our focus is intentionally regional. We recruit exclusively from the Rio de la Plata region, Uruguay and Argentina, because it offers a strong combination of technical depth, cultural alignment, English proficiency, and real-time collaboration with U.S. teams. Rather than sending a large volume of resumes, we recruit and vet based on each company's specific needs and typically introduce a small shortlist of highly qualified candidates.

This work has contributed to the successful exits of three of our partner companies, and continues to power engineering teams at startups and growth-stage companies across the United States.

What we believe

Principles behind every placement

Ownership Over Output

The best path to quality is equipping teams with ownership and trust. When individuals operate with autonomy, the outcome is always a more innovative solution with less waste.

Speed Without Shortcuts

Hiring should not take months. We maintain deep relationships across Latin America so we can move significantly faster than a firm that starts every search from scratch.

Senior Talent Only

We focus exclusively on senior engineers. These are not cost-optimized hires. They are experienced contributors who can own architecture, mentor others, and raise the technical bar from day one.

Long-Term Partnership

We succeed when you succeed. Our goal is not to fill a seat and move on. We partner strategically, define outcomes, and work alongside you to build teams that stick around. That includes the operational side: local employment, contractor management, payroll, compliance, onboarding, and ongoing people support.

Embedded, Not Outsourced

Teros engineers work directly inside your team. They join your standups, use your tools, contribute to your product decisions, and operate with the same level of ownership as any U.S.-based colleague. The goal is expanded engineering capacity without compromising quality or team integration.

The team

The people behind Teros

Nico Bistolfi
Partner

Nico Bistolfi

At Teros since 2013

Nico is a software engineer and founder with more than 20 years of experience at the intersection of technology, product, and infrastructure. He co-founded Teros in 2013 after years of building and scaling engineering organizations in the Bay Area, and has been a Partner since the beginning.

His background spans the full arc of company building. He bootstrapped woOw, one of Uruguay's first e-commerce companies, to 150 employees and $25M in annual revenue before its acquisition. He later founded Piio, an image optimization platform that processed up to 10 million images per hour, which was acquired by Swell Commerce. Most recently, he serves as CTO at Alien Giraffe, where he is building the security and governance layer for AI agents in enterprise environments.

Nico brings that same depth of technical judgment to Teros, helping founders and engineering leaders identify and hire talent they can trust to build alongside them.

Gonzalo Rosso
General Manager, LATAM

Gonzalo Rosso

At Teros since 2026

Gonzalo leads Teros's growth and operations across Latin America, connecting the dots between what U.S. companies need from their engineering teams and where the best LATAM talent lives. He brings 17 years of engineering and team leadership experience to the role.

Before Teros, Gonzalo served as Engineering Manager at XOPS, where he led teams delivering production-grade software for enterprise customers including Fortune 100 companies. Earlier roles at Swell and Piio built his reputation as someone who can manage delivery, align directly with C-level stakeholders, and keep engineering teams moving without friction.

A Stanford Ignite alumnus with a degree in Computer Engineering from Universidad de la Republica, Gonzalo combines technical depth with the kind of practical business judgment that makes him equally effective in an engineering review and a client conversation.

Paula Silva
Senior Talent Acquisition

Paula Silva

At Teros since 2026

Paula leads technical recruiting at Teros, identifying and connecting senior engineering talent across Latin America with U.S.-based companies. She brings a sharp instinct for both the technical requirements of a role and the human qualities that make an engineer a strong long-term fit for a team.

Before joining Teros, Paula built her career in IT talent acquisition across several recruiting and technology organizations. She spent more than two years at hireLander, a New York-based technical recruiting firm, and more than three years at Capicua in Montevideo, where she served as Senior IT Talent Acquisition Specialist and led people care initiatives. Earlier roles at Oktana Corporation and December Labs grounded her practice in the Uruguayan technology ecosystem.

Paula holds a degree in Psychology from Universidad Catolica del Uruguay, a foundation that sharpens how she assesses culture fit, communication, and long-term potential alongside technical skill.

Andrea De León
Talent & Operations

Andrea De León

At Teros since 2024

Andrea works across talent and operations at Teros, keeping the team running smoothly and supporting the process that gets the right engineers in front of the right companies. She brings a methodical approach and sharp attention to detail to every part of the recruiting workflow.

Before Teros, Andrea spent five years as a licensed dietitian in Uruguay, providing individualized care for patients across a range of metabolic and digestive health conditions. That work required the same rigor, empathy, and follow-through she now applies to operations at Teros. She later completed a software testing certification through Abstracta Academy, which deepened her technical awareness and gave her a grounded understanding of the engineering world Teros serves.
